René Magritte
The clouds, the dove, the man in the bowler hat who tips it on our business card. He is the painter who sets the tone for the whole room.
Pizza Magritte: tomato, mozzarella and porcini
A neighbourhood trattoria that chose to live inside a painting. Thirty-seven years of Piazza Gramsci, fresh fish and the wood-fired oven.
Murale's opened in 1989 on the quiet Piazza Gramsci, where the Tuscan trattoria Moreno used to be. The name comes from the walls: painted after the work of Miró, Dalí, Magritte and the leading surrealists, they create an atmosphere you won't find anywhere else in the city.
At the helm is Signor Giuseppe, from Calabria, easy to spot in the dining room: he's the one who suggests a pitta to begin with and offers a mirto or a limoncello at the end of dinner. The kitchen follows his roots: fish, chilli, 'nduja and Tropea onion alongside the Milanese classics.
Murale's opens at Piazza Gramsci 6. The walls are painted with the surrealist murals.

The melting clocks and the figures suspended in the desert fill the long wall of the main room, the one where dinner is served.
Pizza Dalì: basil pesto, mozzarella and grana padano
Miró's constellations, red dots and black stars greet you as you come in from the square. The red dot ended up in our logo too.
Pizza Mirò: ham, ricotta, tomato, olives, oregano and parmesan
The metaphysical squares and faceless figures of the Italian painter close the tour of the room. [photo of the mural to be added]
